The reasons to choose Faith Lutheran College for your child
Like all parents you would no doubt be looking at a variety of schools for your child’s secondary education. It’s a defining time in their lives, when not only their subject choices and results contribute to their future careers, but it is a pivotal time in their adolescence and personal growth.
Here at Faith Lutheran Plainland, we understand the holistic needs of ‘teenagers’ and as specialists in Christian secondary education, our College has been purpose-built to cater for the education of both boys and girls in our unique rural community area.
There are several reasons to choose our College, and we wanted to point them out to you so that you may consider these when weighing up your choices and making your final decision.
First and foremost, we are a Lutheran Christian school
This means your child is enveloped in a nurturing Christian environment where the Christian principles and values are modelled by our staff and shared, so that students can shape their character into respectful, empathetic and authentic citizens within our community
Our school is led by a collaborative, youthful and dynamic team
We are fortunate to have a new Principal, Doug Braiden, who has reinvigorated our school culture and is focused on our community. Doug’s philosophy is to enable all of our staff to be innovative, nurturing and passionate educators encouraging our students to foster their interests and fulfil their individual potential.
We have a surprisingly spacious and well-planned school campus!
When you visit our College you will be surprised by our large footprint – 70 acres – and all of the state-of-the art, architecturally designed, fit-for-purpose facilities we have at the College. This is due to the foresight of our Board and our strategic planning process which has enabled us to have a Facilities Master Plan now and into the future. We will continue to maintain our lovely campus and also continue to build new facilities to enhance our student’s learning.
Your child has endless opportunities
If they can dream of the possibility, we have the academic pathway for them to consider and choose. We have numerous subjects for students to choose from in Senior giving them access to traditional academic pathways as well as a wide variety of Vocational Education specialist subjects. And we also have a dedicated Careers Counsellor who is on hand to help students make informed choices about their future studies. To back all of this up we have dedicated facilities to support the learning environment, that rank with some of the best in any Queensland school. In addition to this, we have many co-curricular options at Faith meaning our students have the capacity to play in teams or compete individually at any level.
Testimony to our success as a secondary education we are able to say that 95% and above of our Year 12 students are successful in gaining employment or their tertiary offering of choice in 2019.
Our entire team at Faith understand that a child’s key to educational success is due to having an engaged and collaborative parent partnership. We encourage school-parent communication and work hard to ensure that families have the tools and support they need to help their students perform to the best of their abilities.
Convenient and safe private bus network
We provide 13 buses to transport students to and from school all over our region. We believe the fees for this transportation are modest considering the distances involved. We know that this service is highly valued and provides peace of mind for families.
We believe our fees are affordable for families and genuinely consider that our core offering – a quality education with fantastic facilities and experienced teachers – delivers a value for money proposition for families.
Student wellbeing and pastoral care
No child is exempt from the worries of today’s world, especially adolescents. We place enormous emphasis on our understanding of inclusivity and diversity, our student wellbeing program and the pastoral care of each and every student and their cohort. We have a strict no-bullying policy and behavioural guidelines in place to help our students manage their personal growth at our College. We work with families in need to maintain our philosophy that every child matters.
Happiness and Fun!
A school environment is an exciting place for students and staff. It is a place of shared friendships, life events and community. Our School is a happy place that creates joyful experiences for all who come into contact with it. By being a part of the Faith Lutheran Plainland community you will no doubt partake in our fun and see the happiness in your children as they journey with us.
