Enrolment

We understand that choosing the right school for your child is a significant decision. That's why we offer a range of resources and support to help guide you through the enrolment process. Our friendly and knowledgeable team is always available to answer any questions you may have and provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision.

Understanding the Enrolment Process

Enrolling your child at a new school can be scary. That's why we're taking the guesswork out of enrolling your child at Faith Lutheran College by taking you through each step of the journey.

Below is a summary of what you can expect, so we can help make the enrolment process as smooth at possible for you and your family.

1. Submit an Application Form

Our Application to Enrol is an online form that you can complete on our website. You can use your home desktop computer, a tablet device or your smartphone to complete the application form.

Once you have submitted the details, including supporting documentation such as birth certificate, school reports and any other relevant documentation, you'll be required to pay the $50 application fee to submit the form.

You'll receive an automated reply confirming that we've received your application - if you don't receive this, make sure you check your junk email folder.

2. Applicant sits Diagnostic Testing

We ask all applicants to sit an AGAT test during the enrolment process to help us provide the best possible support to every student that enrols at Faith. The AGAT test is an online test developed by the Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER).

AGAT requires students to use higher-order thinking skills

  • Students are assessed on their ability to reason, make logical deductions, identify connections and spot patterns.
  • The questions in the test do not require any prior knowledge from any particular content area.
  • Students must think critically to solve simple, multi-step and non-routine problems.

The results help our teaching and learning staff to determine how best to support our students in their learning. The testing takes place at Faith Lutheran College in our library using iPads provided by Faith. The test takes 50 minutes to complete and there is nothing for the applicant to bring aside from a water bottle.

3. Interview

After the testing, the applicant and their family will be invited to attend an interview with a member of our Leadership Team. This may be our College Principal, Deputy Principal, Director of Teaching and Learning or Director of Culture and Communities.

During the interview, the applicant will be asked questions about their current schooling, what they like and dislike about school and what they are hoping to achieve as a student at Faith.

This is also a time for incoming students and their families to ask any questions you have about joining Faith.

4. Letter of Offer

If we believe your family is a great fit for Faith, the next step is for us to send you a Letter of Offer. This is sent as an email with a link to complete the Enrolment Contract, which is an online form, similar to what you completed for the application form.

If your family is new to the College, you will be required to pay the $400 enrolment confirmation fee when signing and submitting the Enrolment Contract. For any subsequent children, however, this fee will be waived.

5. Enrolment Contract signed

It's important that all biological parents or legal guardians sign the Enrolment Contract for legal requirements. If this is not possible, please arrange a confidential discussion with our Enrolments Coordinator.

6. Complete the Enrolment Acceptance Form

Once you have completed the Enrolment Contract, we'll send you one final online form to finalise the enrolment - the Enrolment Acceptance form. This form is designed to collect important information that will help your child/ren at school such as medical information, bus routes, laptops and IT requirements and financial matters. Once this form has been submitted, the enrolment has been finalised.

7. Orientation

If you are enrolling ahead for Year 7, there will be the following orientation events to attend in the lead up to your child starting:

  • Year 5 Experience Day (usually late August/early September)
  • Year 6 Experience Day (usually mid to late June)
  • Orientation Day (usually November prior to commencement)

We'll be in touch to invite you to these events if you have commenced the enrolment process prior to the event.

If your child or children are starting either at the start of a new term or mid term, their first day at Faith will commence with an Orientation from the Heads of Wellbeing. They'll also visit our IT department for their laptop and will have a buddy to help them find their way around the College.
