The Faith Dance Troupe was provided with a fantastic opportunity to learn from guest choreographer, Amy-Lee Dionysius, after receiving some additional financial support from the Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
Taking part in an extensive four-hour workshop, our Senior dancers were encouraged to learn new contemporary techniques and intricate movement sequences, as Ms. Dionysius provided her advice and expertise.
The first of several workshops that will be made possible through the RADF grant, over the coming months our dancers will have access to guest choreographers and instructors, taking part in sessions that will include learning brand new, exclusive routines, and skills training across a number of genres, including contemporary, lyrical, jazz and hip hop.
While four hours of dancing represents an impressive effort, from all reports our Troupe did the College proud, rising to the occasion and meeting the very high bar set by our guest choreographer.
The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a flexible grant fund that invests in local arts and cultural priorities, as determined by local communities across Queensland. Faith’s success in securing funding through the program is largely thanks to the efforts of Ms. Emma O’Shea, who saw an opportunity for the Dance Troupe to apply and tendered a successful application, outlining the value that the dance program adds for both its members and the surrounding community through participation and public performance at a number of events and eisteddfods.
For those wishing to see the Faith Dance Troupe in action, they will be competing at the Ipswich Junior Eisteddfod on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 June from 3:30pm, with tickets available for purchase through the Ipswich Civic Centre.
