Senior students from Faith Lutheran College, Plainland stepped out of the classroom and on to the red carpet, celebrating their forthcoming graduation in a formal affair held at Woodlands of Marburg.
Comprised of more than 100 students, this year’s graduating class turned out in style to honour and celebrate their achievements in secondary schooling as they prepare to move into life beyond secondary education.
Arriving at dusk, accompanied by partners, and with the historic Woodlands Estate providing an elegant backdrop for the evenings proceedings, students took the opportunity to make some bold entrances, with a procession of classic automobiles escorting students to an eagerly awaiting audience of parents, staff and photographers.
Dressed to impress, and with a celebratory tone, the proceedings moved seamlessly into a canapes reception attended by parents, which included a moving and heartfelt address by both College Principal, Mr. Doug Braiden, and College Captains, Mr. Finn Gerhke and Ms. Ashleigh Dargusch. Reflecting on the tumultuous circumstances presented to this year’s Seniors through the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, both Mr. Braiden and the student leaders praised the forthcoming graduates for their resilience, and spoke to the value of friendship and connection between students and staff as the key to success in overcoming adversity.
Concluding with a banquet-style dinner, the event provided a wonderful opportunity for this year’s graduates to reflect and celebrate their educational journey as individuals, as a community and, most of all, as friends; united together as they graduate, and each preparing to embark on their new chapter of post-school life.
Faith Lutheran College would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those involved in making this year’s formal such a tremendous success, and to wish our Year 12 students all the very best as they continue preparation for their final exams. Congratulations on your achievements so far, and good luck for your final term here at Faith!
Professional photographs from the evening will be made available early in Term 4. For a full gallery of images from this year’s Senior Formal, please visit the Faith Lutheran College Facebook page
