Are you ready to embark on a reading adventure? Explore ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds and Other Worlds’ during Book Week 2021!

It’s almost time to embark on a reading adventure, as Faith prepares to celebrate Book Week 2021 early in Term 2! This year’s theme is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’, with a whole week of fantastic activities happening in the InfoHub.

An annual fixture on the Faith Community Calendar, Book Week celebrates literacy and reading in all its forms, encouraging both staff and students to grab a book and get involved!
Our InfoHub staff have arranged a week jam-packed with activities, including talks from special guest authors, workshops, an escape room and, of course, the ever-popular Dress-Up Day on Wednesday 28 April.

Authors in Residence

Jan-Andrew Henderson and David Lovegrove will be our authors in residence for 2021.

  • J A Henderson (Jan-Andrew) Henderson is the author of 30 books. His novels have been short listed for thirteen literary awards and he is the winner of The Royal Mail and Doncaster Prizes.
  • David Stewart Lovegrove is a writer/illustrator and one of Australia’s best known manga artist’s. His latest manga art is part of the new 2018 edition of Obento Deluxe, the Australian market leading Japanese language series for years 7 – 10

They’ll be joining forces in the InfoHub, offering talks and workshops to students throughout the week. Visit the InfoHub and keep an eye on the student notices for more information!

Wacky Wednesday

Are you battling alongside Jedi in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, playing Quidditch at Hogwarts, solving crimes with Sherlock Holmes, training a dragon or conversing with elves in Middle Earth?
To celebrate this years theme, ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’, come dressed as your favourite book character or genre on Wednesday 28 April. Coordinate with your friends and come up with a group costume, or go it alone – either way, it’s a great way to celebrate reading!

Please note that the College Civies Policy does apply, even on dress-up days.

Competitions

Something for everyone!

  • Book in a Bottle
  • Bookmark Design
  • Writing Haiku Challenge
  • Escape Room – ‘May The Force Be With You’
  • Photography Challenge

Use the holidays to start planning your costume, and be sure to visit the InfoHub early in Term 2 for more information!
