Faith’s annual participation in the World’s Greatest Shave has continued in fine form – with this year’s brave cohort of staff and students raising over $6,000 to support the vital work of the Leukemia Foundation.
After the snap lockdown postponed the event at the end of Term 2, staff and students were afforded a few extra weeks to enjoy their flowing locks before they braved the shave in front of an excited and supportive crowd on Wednesday.
A total of 10 staff and students volunteered for the clippers this year, including Ms. Huxley and Mr. Miegel, with the Faith team collaboratively raising a grand total of $6,470 – far exceeding the team’s initial target of $5,000. Leading the way and setting a very impressive fundraising benchmark for future years, Year 10 student Megan Wood raised a personal total of $2,075.65, helping the Faith team to make a fantastic contribution to support those experiencing or affected by leukemia.
In addition to the clippers, students were also offered the opportunity to colour their hair for a gold coin donation, resulting in a range of bright and bold hairstyles throughout the afternoon. Coinciding with the College’s ‘Wacky Wednesday’ dress-up day (part of our Book Week celebrations), many hairstyles were accentuated by costumes, making for a very vibrant afternoon on campus!
Faith would like to congratulate all involved in this year’s fundraising efforts, and commend those staff and students who braved the shave for their commitment to supporting those in need.
